In this battle of indie pro ring veterans, Vertex regular (and official trainer) Johnny Fabulous takes on the good ol’ boy Cody Matthews of Kentucky wrestling fame. The two square off in the St. Louis ring with Cody being obviously unimpressed with the talent at Vertex. He quickly shoves Johnny to the mat, but Johnny is quickly able to counter this move with a takedown of his own. This match is a back-and-forth technical masterpiece, with both wrestlers using their considerable grappling ability and training in some great chain wrestling, quickly taking over control of the match back-and-forth and using some impressive reversal skills to escape these holds.
Johnny uses some impressive takedowns to keep Matthews off his feet and takes great delight in punishing his fellow ring vet. Not to be outdone, Cody takes Johnny to task a number of times, twisting the tall boy into knots. After a series of crushing elbow drops by Fabulous, Cody starts to work on Courageous’ arms, but to no avail, as Johnny has an answer for everything. Now Johnny is pulling out all the stops, with an impressive monkey flip and a vicious ab stretch. Cody is up to the task, however, as he keeps escaping Johnny’s creative pins and holds. This is a classic back-and-forth battle between two highly skilled ring vets that is sure to keep true wrestling fans entertained!
